Nashville offers several programs to help homeowners lower their property tax burden. If you're a senior, disabled, or a veteran, you may qualify for programs that freeze your taxes or reimburse what you pay. This guide covers every relief program available in Davidson County for 2026.

2026 Application Deadlines

  • Property Tax Relief: April 4, 2026
  • Property Tax Freeze: April 5, 2026
  • Already enrolled? You must submit your annual voucher by these dates to stay in the program.

Overview of Relief Programs

Nashville and Davidson County offer three main property tax assistance programs:

  1. Property Tax Freeze — Locks your tax amount so it never increases (for seniors 65+)
  2. Property Tax Relief — State reimburses part or all of taxes you pay (for elderly, disabled, veterans)
  3. Housing Resiliency Fund — Grant to cover tax increases (for low-to-moderate income homeowners)

These programs are separate from appealing your assessment. If you don't qualify for relief programs, or want to lower your taxes even further, you can also appeal your property assessment.

You May Qualify for Multiple Programs

If you meet the eligibility requirements, you can enroll in both the Tax Freeze and Tax Relief programs. The Tax Freeze locks in your amount, and Tax Relief reimburses what you pay.

Property Tax Relief

The Property Tax Relief program is a state-funded program that reimburses qualifying homeowners for part or all of the property taxes they pay. Unlike the Tax Freeze, this program gives you actual money back after you pay your taxes.
