Property tax appeals are time-limited, and the window is short. Missing it usually means waiting another year — or, in a reappraisal county, potentially several years until the next cycle.
How the calendar works
- Assessment notices go out in the spring of a reappraisal year.
- The Informal Review with the Assessor runs in the weeks after notices are mailed.
- The County Board of Equalization typically convenes in June and adjourns within a few weeks.
- Appeals to the State Board follow specific post-CBOE deadlines.
Why we don't print exact dates here
County boards set their own opening and closing dates, and they change year to year. Publishing a specific date that later shifts would do more harm than good. Confirm the current 2027 dates directly with your county Assessor, or start a free evaluation and we'll track the deadline for your county for you.
Don't wait
Building a credible appeal — pulling comparable sales, checking the record, assembling evidence — takes time. Starting early gives you room to do it well before the board adjourns.
